Mary Ellen Gray has over 30 years of professional experience working at the local, state and federal level in the regulatory and planning fields.  Ms. Gray’s experience includes over ten years working in the Washington, DC area including for a national non-profit and then an environmental consulting firm. Ms. Gray spent nine years working in Indiana including: for the City of Bloomington as an Environmental Planner; the State of Indiana working for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, Office of Water Quality as the Planning Branch Chief and the Assistant Deputy Director; and then for the Monroe County Solid Waste Management District as the Director.  Ms. Gray has been on the Delmarva Peninsula for the past fourteen years where she has worked as the Transportation and Long Range Planner for Wicomico County, MD and then the Assistant Planning Director for Kent County, DE and now as the Planning and Development Director for the City of Newark since mid April 2017.  Ms. Gray is also the Chair of the Town of Camden Planning Commission where she lives with her family and is a member on the Delaware APA Executive Committee where she is the President.  Ms. Gray has a geology degree from the University of Rochester, NY, a Masters in Planning from the University of Virginia and is an AICP member since 1997
