Please join the American Planning Association’s Planning & Law Division (PLD) for this important, informative, and engaging webinar on the ethical rules and considerations governing planners, plan commissioners, and lawyers who work with planners and appear before plan commissions.

The webinar will cover the primary sources of ethical rules, common ethical mistakes, and procedures to correct common mistakes. In addition, the webinar will have an interactive component that will enable participants to interact with the presenters and other participants on ethical scenarios.

In addition to obtaining AICP Certification Maintenance (CM) credits, this course has been approved for 1.50 Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) general credit hours in the State of Illinois and participants can submit individually to their home state once they receive the certificate of completion.

Planner

The City of Dover Department of Planning & Inspections is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Planner. The essential function of this position is to research, analyze, and summarize data to support the Planning staff and to perform plan review for development plans. Additional responsibilities will include providing technical assistance to City customers for planning and zoning compliance; working with developers to facilitate resolution of planning-related issues/problems; performing technical reviews of site development plans for compliance with ordinances, policy, and planning principles; developing legal notices reports, and maps for the Planning Commission and other appointed boards and commissions; gathering and analyzing data/information to support periodic and special reports for area of responsibility; researching and authoring text for ordinance text amendments, annexations, and special projects; reviewing building and sign permits and Business Licenses for compliance and making determinations on whether to approve permits, and licenses; handling customer inquiries and complaints; inspecting physical sights for certificate of occupancy; providing technical expertise on computer software applications to co-workers; attending staff and other professional meetings to exchange information including presentations to such groups. This position requires a master’s degree or equivalent training in planning, public administration, landscape architecture, geography or closely related field along with a minimum of one year of related experience. Certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners is preferred and experience with Geographic Information Systems is required. A valid driver’s license is required. Criminal background investigation and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening will be required. Civil Engineer I

The City of Dover Department of Public Worksis currently seeking three (3) qualified applicants for the position of Civil Engineer I. The essential function of this position is to assist the Department of Public Worksin the analysis, design, construction, inspection and maintenance of a variety of water, wastewater, transportation, stormwater and geotechnical projects.

The responsibilities will include data and record keeping, system component analysis, miscellaneous field investigations, preparation of plans and specifications and subdivision/site plan review including water, wastewater, stormwater and transportation infrastructure.

This position requires a Bachelor’s of Science degree in civil engineering, architecture or closely related field, along with a minimum of six months of related experience. Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products is required. Criminal background investigation and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening will be required.

The City of Dover offers an excellent compensation package which includes health insurance, and 401a/457 deferred compensation plan.
